Aqua Teen Hunger Force on XM Satellite Radio

XM Satellite Radio is so cool! This past week on The Boneyard, they had the cast of Aqua Teen Hunger Force from Adult Swim take over the station as DJ's. Master Shake, Carl, and Meatwad hosted and other characters such as Ozzy, Scorpions, Ratt, Kiss, Judas Priest and several others all showed up for the fun.

XM Satellite Radio Commercials Competing For Coolness!

It seems that XM Satellite Radio is competing with Sirius when it comes to cool commercials! There's a new XM commercial out called the "XM-erator" - and it's pretty cute. I found it on YouTube, so I'm posting it here to see what everyone thinks.

This commercial is linked to an online advertising campaign and it's got great music. All of XM's commercials seem to have music that is very catchy and it just works! Everytime this one comes on, my kids just bounce around the living room to the beat!

What do you think about this one?

XM Satellite Radio Partners With ABC

In a slew of recent partnerships, XM Satellite Radio has now teamed up with ABC to present a regular music segment on air that showcases XM's "Artist Confidential" series. It will be shown on the weekend edition of ABC's "Good Morning America". The segment will feature video highlights from the XM original “Artist Confidential" show. The Good Morning America Weekend shows will be the first time fans will be able to see and hear to their favorite artists from the popular XM series.

This past Sunday, November 18th, was the beginning of this being slated as a regular part of the show. Mandy Moore was the first artist featured, with announcements of new artists coming soon. ABC says video from XM's original series will also be available to watch on ABC's website.

Have any of you heard this series while listening to XM? If so, post a comment to let us know if you think it will be worth watching on ABC!

Satellite Radio Merger

I read an article this evening that seemed to indicate that the much anticipated satellite radio merger between Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI) and XM Satellite Radio (XMSR) is about to be approved by Thomas Barnett, Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice Antitrust Division.

This is pretty exciting if the merger results in more channels or stations for subscribers! It would also be a great deal for both companies, to combine their customer base and actually become more profitable. It would put an end to the competition and probably lower prices for the monthly subscription, as well. If so, it wouldn't be so difficult to persuade new customers to sign up for service.

Sirius and XM pointed out that as a result of the merger, the company hoped to offer subscribers an "a la carte" option, which would allow them to pick and choose the channels they wanted, such as Sirius' "Martha Stewart Living Radio" or XM's "Theme Time Radio Hour" with music legend Bob Dylan.

We'll see if it actually goes through, but I'm hoping it will. I love the satellite radio that I have in my car, I hear lots of new music, plus the older music that I love. There is never a shortage of entertainment via satellite radio. What do you think of the merger? Are you for it or against it? Post a comment to let us know what you think!

Kawasaki To Offer Motorcycles With Satellite Radio!

Wow. Kawasaki Motorcycles has just annouced that they will be offering motorcycles with satellite radio this fall through a partnership with XM Satellite Radio. This is an excellent idea on Kawasaki's part, because XM is already available in 140 models of new cars, trucks, and motorcycles for 2007.
For now it will be offered on an all-new and state of the art sound system on their Vulcan 1600 Nomad touring model. The Senior Manager of Accessories at Kawasaki feels that it will greatly enhance their customers' ownership experience - and I think he's right! With a premium sound system and 170 channels of music, sports, and news - this value-added feature to Kawasaki's line-up should offer a spike in sales for the season.
Right now XM is the number one provider of satellite radio in the automobile markets. Not only have they partnered with Kawasaki, but XM has deals with General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Porsche, Toyota, and more!
I wonder what other partnerships XM and Sirius Satellite will come up with. Maybe satellite radio through a portable music player like iPod? That'd be interesting!
